Commending the Kingdom Family Worship Center.

WHEREAS, for 40 years, the Kingdom Family Worship Center in Fredericksburg has greatly served the community by offering edifying spiritual guidance, joyous occasions for worship and fellowship, and many charitable outreach programs for those in need; and

WHEREAS, the Kingdom Family Worship Center was founded in 1983 as the Tower of Deliverance Church by Bishop Joseph Henderson, Sr., who was only 19 years of age at the time, as well as other members of the Tower of Deliverance Church in Richmond, who had been sent to Fredericksburg to establish a new church; and

WHEREAS, the Tower of Deliverance Church occupied a number of sites throughout Fredericksburg in its early years and later expanded its outreach efforts in 1997 by founding the Bragg Hill Family Life Center, which would ultimately make its home at the former Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Facility and be referred to as simply the Family Life Center; and

WHEREAS, at the Kingdom Family Worship Center's Family Life Center, the church supports the needs of the community through a variety of services, including after-school programs and summer camps for students, financial literacy presentations and job readiness classes for adults, and health and wellness programs for seniors; and

WHEREAS, the Kingdom Family Worship Center strives to be a safety net for the most vulnerable members of the community, operating a food pantry and clothes closet, a prisoner reentry program and transitional housing service, and other programs vital to the well-being of those in need; and

WHEREAS, in 2015, the Tower of Deliverance Church changed its name to the Kingdom Family Worship Center and moved its worship services from its downtown location to the Family Life Center, returning shortly thereafter to the church's original location while keeping its new name; and

WHEREAS, the Kingdom Family Worship Center's dedication to its mission "to be a Christ-centered ministry that empowers, develops, and inspires others to maximize their potential" has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Kingdom Family Worship Center hereby be commended be on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bishop Joseph Henderson, Sr., pastor of the Kingdom Family Worship Center, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's history and its contributions to Fredericksburg and the Commonwealth.
