WHEREAS, Linda Choe, an esteemed attorney with the Office of Division Counsel at Fairfax County Public Schools, was named the Specialty Bar Leader of the Year by the Virginia State Bar Conference of Local and Specialty Bar Associations in 2024; and

WHEREAS, from 2021 to 2023, Linda Choe served as president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Virginia (APABA-VA), working tirelessly to promote awareness of the association and to collaborate with other organizations in support of the community; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Linda Choe spearheaded the association's efforts to recruit new officers, maintain its social media presence, update its bylaws, and hold monthly meetings; and

WHEREAS, Linda Choe went above and beyond her call of duty as president of the APABA-VA by organizing a number of events and activities for the association's members, including a judicial career panel with local bar associations, an annual park cleanup with Arlington County Parks and Recreation, and volunteer events with the Arlington Food Assistance Center; and

WHEREAS, one of Linda Choe's proudest accomplishments with APABA-VA was helping to convene the first ever continuing legal education panel in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, in which trailblazing AAPI judges and local leaders came together to discuss laws affecting the AAPI community; and

WHEREAS, prior to leading the APABA-VA, Linda Choe was 2019–2020 president of the Arlington County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section, providing guidance and other support to her fellow attorneys in the early years of their careers and encouraging them to be active and engaged members of their communities; and

WHEREAS, on her path to becoming an attorney, Linda Choe earned a bachelor's degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and her juris doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law; and

WHEREAS, Linda Choe's recent accolade is a testament to her hard work, dedication to the legal profession, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Linda Choe hereby be commended for being named the 2024 Virginia State Bar Conference of Local and Specialty Bar Associations' Specialty Bar Leader of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Linda Choe as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her service to her fellow attorneys, the Virginia State Bar, and the Commonwealth.
