WHEREAS, Brian McGill, a highly admired English teacher at Tomahawk Creek Middle School, was selected as the Chesterfield County Teacher of the Year in 2024; and

WHEREAS, a highly experienced educator, Brian McGill previously taught students in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York; he joined Chesterfield County Public Schools in 2008 and has been a member of the faculty at Tomahawk Creek Middle School since 2020; and

WHEREAS, through his engaging classroom presence, Brian McGill has built strong relationships with students, encouraging them to become leaders in the community while ensuring they have the tools and support they need to reach their fullest academic potential; and

WHEREAS, Brian McGill uses his lessons to help students grow as individuals by applying literature, both fiction and nonfiction, to real-life situations and demonstrating how his students can make a difference in the world around them; and

WHEREAS, Brian McGill is a trusted friend and mentor of his fellow educators at Tomahawk Creek Middle School, and he was previously named as the Chesterfield County Middle School Teacher of the Year; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Brian McGill hereby be commended on his selection as the 2024 Chesterfield County Teacher of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brian McGill as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to public education in Chesterfield County.
