| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate our colleague, | ||||||
4 | Representative Avery Bourne, on her distinguished service to | ||||||
5 | the people of the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne was sworn in on February 20, 2015 as | ||||||
7 | the youngest state representative to ever serve in the | ||||||
8 | Illinois State Legislature; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, For seven years, Rep. Bourne dutifully served | ||||||
10 | Montgomery County as well as portions of Christian, Macoupin, | ||||||
11 | and Madison Counties; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, A proud resident of Morrisonville, Rep. Bourne | ||||||
13 | was a great voice for the farming community, especially due to | ||||||
14 | her roots in rural Christian County where her family has | ||||||
15 | farmed for over 150 years; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne was an incredible advocate for | ||||||
17 | residents across the state and a vital member of the House | ||||||
18 | Republican leadership team, holding the respect and esteem of | ||||||
19 | her colleagues; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne amassed an impressive voting record |

1 | that reflects her conservative values, including her tireless | ||||||
2 | efforts to eradicate corruption, to create equitable education | ||||||
3 | for students across Illinois, to build fiscal reform, to fight | ||||||
4 | for pro-life values, and to provide a better government for | ||||||
5 | the people across Illinois and throughout her 95th District; | ||||||
6 | and

7 | WHEREAS, In 2016, Rep. Bourne was appointed to the House | ||||||
8 | Education Funding Task Force and the Illinois School Funding | ||||||
9 | Reform Commission to work on a bipartisan statewide solution | ||||||
10 | to fund disparities within the public education system; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The passage of comprehensive, historic education | ||||||
12 | funding reform was achieved in 2017 in large part due to Rep. | ||||||
13 | Bourne's passion, commitment, and leadership in transforming | ||||||
14 | education for the better across Illinois; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, To create a government of which Illinoisans could | ||||||
16 | be proud, Rep. Bourne was a strong proponent of independent | ||||||
17 | maps for the legislature and Illinois residents, but her | ||||||
18 | advocacy for ethics did not stop there; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne served as Chair of the Legislative | ||||||
20 | Ethics Commission, working to create stronger laws to identify | ||||||
21 | and remove bad actors and close loopholes that enabled | ||||||
22 | corruption to run rampant in the Statehouse; therefore, be it

2 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we wish to thank Representative Avery Bourne for her years of | ||||||
4 | dedicated service as 95th District State Representative and | ||||||
5 | wish her the very best in her future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
6 | further
