Hansard Alerts

Daily or weekly monitoring of the debates of the House of Commons and delivery of relevant text summaries prepared against the client profile. Includes Question Period, Members' Statements, Petitions, debates on specific issues, Private Members' Business, etc.

 

Identification of Party Positions

Legiscan will liaise with MPs and Senators.

 

Progress of Legislation

Notification of the stages of any bill of interest to the client has reached in: introduction, second reading, committee stage, report stage, third reading, Senate proceedings, Royal Assent and proclamation.

 

Parliamentary Committees

Advance notification of and next day summaries of any committee considering issues of interest to the client, including analysis of legislation, hearings on issues of the day, testimony by Ministers and government officials on programs of departments and agencies, and other witnesses called. Obtaining reports and papers presented.

 

Key Parliamentary Events

Same day monitoring summaries of e.g. Speech from the Throne, Budget Speech, together with obtaining and delivering documents as released.

 

Reporting on Special Government Reports

Identifying, obtaining and delivering public discussion documents prepared by government agencies and, on request, preparing custom executive summaries keyed to client interests.

 

Preparation of Special Reports

On request, Legiscan will prepare custom reports on legislative issues as backgrounders, position papers, options and potential impacts, etc.

 

Literature Searches and Custom Reports

Legiscan will undertake special research on any topic, using its information and library science consultants and network of specialists in many functional areas. Clients for these studies include Governments, NGOs, Private Industry, Embassies and Associations.

Other information areas monitored include the technologies related to information delivery, e-commerce, the environment, substance abuse, health and safety, transportation, and impact of user fees and cost recovery
Monitoring sources include Parliamentary debates and committees, the internetm trade and learned journals, reports and news media and expert opinions
