SENATE BILL 1524

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

Requiring the Arizona board of regents to establish a long‑term plan to address the nursing shortage.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Arizona board of regents; nursing shortage; long‑term plan; pilot program; delayed repeal

A.  The Arizona board of regents shall appoint a working group that includes representatives of all three universities under the board's jurisdiction and any community college district or private postsecondary institution that has a nursing program to establish a long‑term plan and pilot program to address this state's nursing shortage.  The working group shall include representatives of health care facility employers, professional nursing organizations, the state board of nursing, the department of health services and nonprofit organizations providing research and education regarding the state's health care workforce.  The Arizona board of regents shall include the long‑term plan and pilot program in the board's fiscal year 2020‑2021 budget request to the joint legislative budget committee.

B.  This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2021.
