A CONCURRENT MEMORIAL
urging the united states congress to enact the fund and complete the border wall act or similar legislation.
(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)
To the Congress of the United States of America:
Your memorialist respectfully represents:
Whereas, as a border state, Arizona suffers a disproportionate financial burden due to the unauthorized migration of individuals across the Arizona-Mexico border; and
Whereas, the increasing numbers of immigrants who are not lawfully present in this country have resulted in exorbitant costs that burden this state's criminal justice system, medical and health care communities, public schools and various social services agencies; and
Whereas, voters have indicated their desire that elected officials act to fix the illegal immigration crisis that our state and nation are currently facing; and
Whereas, Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs introduced H.R. 6657, the Fund and Complete the Border Wall Act, in the 115th Congress; and
Whereas, among other things, this bill would direct the United States Department of Homeland Security to construct a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico international border and to purchase additional vehicles and equipment for the U.S. Border Patrol; and
Whereas, this bill would provide greatly needed resources to battle the increasingly serious effects of illegal immigration on our state and nation.
Wherefore your memorialist, the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring, prays:
1. That the Members of the United States Congress act expeditiously to enact the Fund and Complete the Border Wall Act, or similar legislation, to secure our borders and protect our communities from the negative effects of illegal immigration.
2. That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit copies of this Memorial to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and each Member of Congress from the State of Arizona.
