AN ACT CONCERNING A PILOT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE INMATES WITH HEALTH CARE PLANS UPON RELEASE FROM INCARCERATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to implement a pilot program to provide each inmate, upon the inmate's discharge from incarceration, with a health care plan that includes a thirty-day supply of medication, initiated applications for health care benefits and identification of a primary care provider.

Statement of Purpose:

To proactively address the needs of inmates being released thereby increasing inmates' chances for successful reintegration into the community and reducing the recidivism rate.
