AN ACT PERMITTING CERTAIN PERSONS AND BENEFICIARIES TO DISPOSE OF PROPERTY WITHOUT FIRST SEEKING THE CONSENT OF THE COMMISSIONER OF SOCIAL SERVICES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 17b-85 of the general statutes be amended to eliminate the requirement that certain persons or beneficiaries may not sell, assign, transfer, encumber or otherwise dispose of any property without the consent of the Commissioner of Social Services.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow conveyances of property of a recipient of public assistance to be recorded in a timely fashion.
