150th GENERAL ASSEMBLY
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 26
RECOGNIZING THE CAST OF “BOUNDLESS! A MUSICAL JOURNEY,” AN ORIGINAL MUSICAL COMMISSIONED BY THE GOVERNOR’S ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CITIZENS.
WHEREAS, “Boundless! A Musical Journey” educates the public about living with disabilities and provides access to performance art and work opportunities in theater for people who have disabilities; and
WHEREAS, participants achieve personal empowerment by contributing to the production, augmenting their social engagement, emotional well-being, and life skills, and developing professionally; and
WHEREAS, “Boundless!” is based on the 2003 journey of two-hundred people with disabilities and their advocates who marched from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., to demand equal rights as citizens; and
WHEREAS, the musical combines the recollected stories of Delawareans with disabilities and the difficult history of the struggle to ensure dignity and justice for all; and
WHEREAS, “Boundless!” calls on the audience to ponder and celebrate the intricacies of our shared humanity through campfire stories of hardship, resilience, and celebration; and
WHEREAS, cast, crew, parents, and caregivers devoted hundreds of volunteer hours to the success of the production; and
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 150th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the state of Delaware recognizes the cast of “Boundless! A Musical Journey,” an original musical commissioned by the Governor’s Council for Exceptional Citizens.
SYNOPSIS
This resolution recognizes the cast of "Boundless! A Musical Journey" for celebrating people with disabilities and educating the public by sharing their stories.
