    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to license plates for persons with
    3         disabilities; amending s. 320.0842, F.S.; requiring
    4         the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles,
    5         upon application, to issue a specified license plate
    6         to the owners or lessees of motor vehicles who reside
    7         in this state and who qualify for two other specified
    8         license plates; specifying requirements for the plate;
    9         providing that the license plate entitles the person
   10         to specified privileges; requiring the name of the
   11         eligible applicant to be noted on the registration
   12         certificate when more than one registrant is listed;
   13         providing an effective date.

   15  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   16  
   17         Section 1. Subsection (5) is added to section 320.0842,
   18  Florida Statutes, to read:
   19         320.0842 Free motor vehicle license plates to veterans who
   20  use wheelchairs.—
   21         (5)Upon application by an owner or lessee of a motor
   22  vehicle who resides in this state and qualifies for a license
   23  plate under this section and a Purple Heart license plate under
   24  s. 320.089, the department shall issue a license plate stamped
   25  with the term “Combat-wounded Veteran” followed by the serial
   26  number of the license plate and the international symbol of
   27  accessibility. The license plate entitles the person to all
   28  privileges afforded by a license plate issued under this
   29  section. When more than one registrant is listed on the
   30  registration issued under this section, the eligible applicant
   31  shall be noted on the registration certificate.
   32         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
