    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to third-party agreements in civil
    3         proceedings; creating s. 45.081, F.S.; requiring
    4         parties to civil actions to provide copies of certain
    5         third-party agreements to the other parties, except
    6         when otherwise ordered by the court; providing an
    7         effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Section 45.081, Florida Statutes, is created to
   12  read:
   13         45.081 Third-party agreements.—Except as otherwise
   14  stipulated or ordered by the court, a party to any civil action,
   15  without awaiting a discovery request, shall provide to the other
   16  parties a copy of any agreement under which any person, other
   17  than an attorney retained on a contingency-fee basis to
   18  represent a party to the action, has a right to receive
   19  compensation that is contingent upon and sourced from any
   20  proceeds of the civil action, whether by settlement, judgment,
   21  or otherwise.
   22         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2019.
