STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to fishing.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 188, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§188-    Fishing; Kaimana Beach-Waikiki shoreline fisheries management area; prohibited.  It is unlawful for any person to engage in line-and-hook or net fishing at any time in the Kaimana Beach-Waikiki shoreline fisheries management area, which shall include that portion of the submerged lands and overlying waters beginning at the high-water mark on the shoreline to a distance of three hundred yards or to the seaward edge of the fringing reef if one occurs beyond three hundred yards, and between the straight lines extending seaward, along the Ewa or western boundary of the Outrigger Canoe Club (tax map key 3-1-032:031) to the Ewa or westernmost wall of the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium (tax map key 3-1-031:009)."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on October 1, 2019.

Description:

Prohibits line-and-hook or net fishing at any time in the Kaimana Beach-Waikiki Shoreline Fisheries Management Area, which includes the portion of the submerged lands and overlying waters beginning at the high-water mark on the shoreline to a distance of 300 yards or to the seaward edge of the fringing reef if one occurs beyond 300 yards, and between the Outrigger Canoe Club and the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium.
