HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

H.C.R. NO.

147

THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE, 2019

STATE OF HAWAII

HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

requesting the department of transportation to conduct a feasibility study on universal PILOT badges for airports in the state.

WHEREAS, there are approximately fifteen commercial, passenger, and general use airports in the State of Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, many of these airports require pilots to hold separate badges, specific to each airport, to enter the premises; and

WHEREAS, the process of obtaining and renewing multiple badges is time consuming and expensive, requiring several background checks and annual fees; and

WHEREAS, a universal state airport badge would be more economical and efficient for pilots, thus facilitating easier intrastate travel; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Transportation is requested to conduct a study on the feasibility and potential costs and fees for universal pilot badges for airports in the State; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is requested to submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2020; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation.
