HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

congratulating the saint louis crusaders on winning the 2019 division I-OPEN football championship.

 

 

 


WHEREAS, founded in 1846, Saint Louis School is Hawaii’s premier all-boys school, offering a college-preparatory program that includes award-winning programs in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Hawaiian Studies, Robotics and Engineering, Business Leadership, Athletics, and Performing Arts; and

 

WHEREAS, located in Honolulu on the island of Oahu, Saint Louis School offers a quality education open to students of all faiths, putting emphasis on spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth under the Catholic Marianist tradition of education; students benefit from a curriculum that has developed countless successful professional leaders; and

 

WHEREAS, the SAINT LOUIS CRUSADERS represent a proud tradition with a storied history, encouraging all student-athletes to embrace the school's emphasis on striving for excellence and exhibiting good sportsmanship and fair play; and

 

WHEREAS, the SAINT LOUIS CRUSADERS believe that athletics is an important aspect of education and that it is important to help young men develop into responsible adults, building on and using the insights of Father William Joseph Chaminade to foster an atmosphere that challenges each young man to move beyond what he might perceive as obstacles to realize his full potential; and

 

WHEREAS, in November of 2019, the SAINT LOUIS CRUSADERS won the Division I-Open football championship title for the fourth straight year when the team defeated Kahuku High School, 45-6, in the state championship game at Aloha Stadium; the Crusaders ended the 2019 prep football season ranked No. 9 in the country, with eight players signing letters of intent with Division I colleges on the first day of the early signing period; and

 

WHEREAS, three different quarterbacks have guided the SAINT LOUIS CRUSADERS to the state championships: most recently, Jayden deLaura, who will be attending Washington State University next fall; Chevan Cordeiro, now at the University of Hawaii, in 2017; and in 2016, Tua Tagovailoa, who recently declared his intent to enter into the NFL Draft; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2020, that this body hereby congratulates the SAINT LOUIS CRUSADERS on winning the 2019 Division I-Open football championship, applauds the team and the athletic program for their commitment to excellence and for providing life lessons outside of the classroom, and extends to them its best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
