A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the seventeenth senatorial district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $68,770,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the seventeenth senatorial district, as follows:

A.   August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     Design and construction for new classroom building.

Design                                $ 2,000,000

Construction                          $21,000,000

     Total funding                    $23,000,000

B.   August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     Whole school renovation, including ground and site improvements.

     Total funding                    $ 1,350,000

C.   August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     Covered playground area, including ground and site improvements.

     Total funding                    $ 5,000,000

D.   Honowai elementary school, Oahu

     Design and construction for electrical upgrade and air conditioning for multiple portables.

Design                                $    50,000

Construction                          $   475,000

     Total funding                    $   525,000

E.   Honowai elementary school, Oahu

     Design and construction for covered walkways in multiple areas.

Design                                $   100,000

Construction                          $ 1,125,000

     Total funding                    $ 1,225,000

F.   Palisades elementary school, Oahu

     Design and construction for outdoor covered playcourt.

Design                                $ 1,077,000

Construction                          $ 4,423,000

     Total funding                    $ 5,500,000

G.   Waipahu elementary school, Oahu

     Design and construction for cafeteria expansion, renovation, and improvements.

Design                                $   500,000

Construction                          $12,000,000

     Total funding                    $12,500,000

H.   Waipahu elementary school, Oahu

     Equipment for classroom air conditioning.

Equipment                             $   120,000

     Total funding                    $   120,000

I.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     Construction for new integrated academic classroom building - phase 2.

Construction                          $18,500,000

     Total funding                    $18,500,000

J.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     Construction for new adult education portable classrooms.

Construction                          $   300,000

     Total funding                    $   300,000

K.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     Design and construction for campus-wide re-keying project.

Design                                $    50,000

Construction                          $   250,000

     Total funding                    $   300,000

L.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     Construction for campus painting phase 2.

Construction                          $   450,000

     Total funding                    $   450,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
