A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EDUCATION.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Education research and development revolving
fund; established. There is established in the department an education
research and development revolving fund into which shall be deposited all revenues
from the commercial adoption of any products and services developed by the department.
Funds deposited into the revolving fund may
be expended by the department to support the research and development of innovative
curriculum, instructional materials, and related technologies."
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for deposit into the education research and development revolving fund.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the education research and development revolving fund the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to support the research and development of innovative curriculum, instructional materials, and related technologies.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
