SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the extension of keaunui drive to renton road in ewa beach.

 

 


     WHEREAS, access to Asing Park in Ewa Beach needs to be improved because the park has proved to be instrumental to the needs of the Ewa Beach community; and

 

     WHEREAS, improved access to the park can be achieved by extending Keaunui Drive, which currently terminates as a cul-de-sac in the Ewa by Gentry Community Association, over the current OR&L Company railroad tracks to Renton Road; and

 

     WHEREAS, Keaunui Drive and Renton Road are evidently county highways under the jurisdiction of the City and County of Honolulu; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Department of Design and Construction of the City and County of Honolulu plans, designs, and constructs capital improvement program funded projects related to the infrastructure of facilities within public rights-of-way including streets and highways; and

 

     WHEREAS, members of the Ewa Beach community have been waiting for the extension of Keaunui Drive to Renton Road for at least the past ten years; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Design and Construction of the City and County of Honolulu is requested to extend Keaunui Drive to Renton Road in Ewa Beach; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, Director of Design and Construction of the City and County of Honolulu, and Chair of the Honolulu City Council.
