SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CLEAN UP ALL LITTER ON THE PARCEL OF STATE LANDS, IDENTIFIED AS TAX MAP KEY (3) 7-4-08: 21, LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY AND PALANI ROAD.

 

 


     WHEREAS, litter found on sidewalks or along curbs is more likely to get washed into storm drains during a heavy rain and then make its way into the ocean; and

 

     WHEREAS, litter can carry germs, sicken animals attracted to litter, and make those animals carriers for diseases that may make people and other animals sick; and

 

     WHEREAS, litter is harmful to the environment and wastes natural resources that are used instead of recycled materials; and

 

     WHEREAS, the State should make efforts to preserve the State's scenic landscapes and fragile environment by enforcing litter laws and maintaining state lands that are litter-free; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Transportation is requested to clean up all litter on and maintain the cleanliness and livability of the state land parcel identified by tax map key (3) 7-4-08: 21, at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Palani Road; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation.
