H.F. 164 Section 1. Section 483A.27A, subsection 1, Code 2019, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. Notwithstanding section 483A.27 , a person who is sixteen 3 nine years of age or older may purchase a hunting license with 4 an apprentice hunter designation on the license without first 5 completing a hunter education course if the person meets all 6 the requirements of this section . The issuance of a license 7 with an apprentice hunter designation shall not be restricted 8 by the provisions of section 483A.31. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 Under current law, a person who is at least 16 years old may 13 purchase a license with an apprentice hunter designation. This 14 bill allows a person who is at least nine years old to purchase 15 a license with an apprentice hunter designation. The bill 16 requires the department of natural resources to issue a license 17 with an apprentice hunter designation to a nonresident even if 18 the nonresident’s state does not provide reciprocal benefits 19 to Iowa residents. 20 -1- LSB 1952YH (2) 88 js/rn 1/ 1
