1.
Section
256.9,
Code
2019,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
60.
No
later
than
July
1,
2020,
in
3
consultation
with
the
department
of
public
health,
develop
and
4
make
available
to
all
schools
guidelines
for
the
management
of
5
students
with
life-threatening
food
allergies.
The
guidelines
6
shall
include
but
not
be
limited
to
all
of
the
following:
7
a.
Education
and
training
for
school
personnel
on
the
8
management
of
students
with
life-threatening
food
allergies,
9
including
training
relating
to
the
administration
of
an
10
epinephrine
auto-injector.
11
b.
Procedures
for
responding
to
life-threatening
allergic
12
reactions.
13
c.
A
process
for
the
development
of
individualized
health
14
care
and
allergy
action
plans
for
every
student
with
a
known
15
life-threatening
food
allergy.
16
d.
Protocols
to
prevent
exposure
to
life-threatening
17
allergens.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
the
department
of
education,
in
22
consultation
with
the
department
of
public
health,
to
develop
23
and
make
available
to
all
schools
guidelines
for
the
management
24
of
students
with
life-threatening
food
allergies
no
later
than
25
July
1,
2020.
