H.F. 629 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES —— CHILD CARE 1 CENTERS. The department of human services shall adopt rules 2 pursuant to chapter 17A to allow registered child development 3 homes providing care to school-aged children to exceed the 4 child-staff ratio for school-aged children when a school-aged 5 child’s school starts late, is dismissed early, or is canceled 6 due to inclement weather or structural damage, provided the 7 child is currently enrolled at the registered child development 8 home and the registered child development home does not exceed 9 the child development home’s licensed capacity. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill directs the department of human services to adopt 14 rules to provide registered child development homes serving 15 school-aged children to exceed the child-staff ratio for 16 school-aged children when a school-aged child’s school starts 17 late, is dismissed early, or is canceled due to inclement 18 weather or structural damage, provided the child is currently 19 enrolled at the registered child development home and the 20 registered child development home does not exceed the child 21 development home’s licensed capacity. 22 -1- LSB 2500YH (5) 88 hb/rh 1/ 1
