Bill Title: Amends the Departments of State Government Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that an office of Inspector General established within a department of State government, or otherwise established in any agency under the jurisdiction of the Governor, that is in existence on the effective date of this amendatory Act, or which may be established thereafter, shall be a fully independent office with its own appropriation separate from the overall appropriation for the department in which such office is established.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
20 ILCS 5/5-665 new

Amends the Departments of State Government Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that an office of Inspector General established within a department of State government, or otherwise established in any agency under the jurisdiction of the Governor, that is in existence on the effective date of this amendatory Act, or which may be established thereafter, shall be a fully independent office with its own appropriation separate from the overall appropriation for the department in which such office is established.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
5amended by adding Section 5-665 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 5/5-665 new)
7 Sec. 5-665. Inspector General appropriation.
8Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, an office
9of Inspector General established within a department of State
10government, as designated in Section 5-15, or otherwise
11established in any agency under the jurisdiction of the
12Governor, that is in existence on the effective date of this
13amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, or which may be
14established thereafter, shall be a fully independent office
15with its own appropriation separate from the overall
16appropriation for the department in which such office is
17established.
