Bill Title: Amends the State Police Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall pay directly or reimburse, up to a maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) the burial expenses of each State police officer who is killed in the line of duty after June 30, 2018. Amends the Line of Duty Compensation Act. Provides that a burial benefit of up to a maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) shall be payable to the surviving spouse or estate of a law enforcement officer or fireman who is killed in the line of duty after June 30, 2018.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by changing | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 12.2 as follows:

7 | Sec. 12.2.
Burial benefit for State police officers killed | |||||||||||||||||||

9 | (a) The Department of State Police shall pay directly or | |||||||||||||||||||

maximum of $20,000 $10,000 , the burial | |||||||||||||||||||

12 | of duty after June 30, 1997 .

13 | (b) The payments provided for in this Section shall be paid | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | out of moneys
appropriated to the Department for the personal | |||||||||||||||||||

officers.

16 | (c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | governing the
administration of this Section.
