Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Provides that State purchasing officers or a State agency may enter into renewable energy resources contracts and leases for a period of time deemed to be in the best interest of the State, but not exceeding 25 years inclusive of proposed contract or lease renewals. Defines "renewable energy resources". Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning finance.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by
5adding Section 25-47 as follows:
6 (30 ILCS 500/25-47 new)
7 Sec. 25-47. Renewable energy resources contracts or
8leases. State purchasing officers or a State agency may enter
9into renewable energy resources contracts and leases for a
10period of time deemed to be in the best interest of the State,
11but not exceeding 25 years inclusive of proposed contract or
12lease renewals. For the purposes of this Section, "renewable
13energy resources" has the meaning ascribed to that term in
14Section 1-10 of the Illinois Power Agency Act.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
