Bill Title: Amends the Election Code. Requires any member of the State Board of Elections, prior to appointment to the State Board of Elections, to dissolve any political committee associated with the member as a candidate for office. Effective immediately.

Amends the Election Code. 1 AN ACT concerning elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing Section
51A-14 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/1A-14) (from Ch. 46, par. 1A-14)
7 Sec. 1A-14. No member of the State Board of Elections may
8become a candidate for nomination for, or election to, or
9accept appointment to or hold any other remunerative public
10office or public employment or any office in a political party.
11No member, or spouse of a member, of the State Board of
12Elections shall serve as an officer of a political committee or
13otherwise direct the actions of, or the use of funds held by, a
14political committee. Any member of the State Board of
15Elections, prior to appointment to the State Board of
16Elections, must dissolve any political committee associated
17with the member as a candidate for office. Violation of any
18prohibition in this Section shall disqualify a member of the
19Board and a vacancy is thereby created. A vacancy also exists
20upon the occurrence of any of the events enumerated in Section
2125-2 of this Act as in the case of an elective office.
