HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of
Representatives commends the actions of individuals who help
others who are in trouble; and
WHEREAS, On January 14, 2019, a car was stuck on a railroad
crossing near Lombard; and
WHEREAS, With the Metra Union Pacific West Line rolling in,
Good Samaritan Steve Spapperi was the first motorist to rush to
the vehicle and reach the driver; another Lombard resident,
Justin Mueller, joined the effort as Lombard Officer Dan
Herrera arrived on the scene; and
WHEREAS, Together, the three men were able to pull the
96-year old woman out of the car and carry her to safety;
seconds later, the car was struck by the train; and
WHEREAS, The woman did not suffer any injuries; therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we commend the selfless actions and quick thinking of Steve
Spapperi, Justin Mueller, and Officer Dan Herrera, as they

saved the life of one of their neighbors; they represent the
best of the Lombard community and the State of Illinois; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
presented to Steve Spapperi, Justin Mueller, and Officer Dan
Herrera as an expression of our esteem and respect.
