2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rudolph | ||||||
4 | T. Danel, who passed away on May 14, 2019 at the age of 103; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was born in Silesia (now Poland) in | ||||||
6 | 1915, the youngest of ten children; as a youngster, he learned | ||||||
7 | to be self-reliant and earned money by running errands for | ||||||
8 | people in his village; he was determined to get an education | ||||||
9 | and attended whenever he could; at the age of 14, he joined the | ||||||
10 | army; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, In the army, Rudolph Danel learned to play musical | ||||||
12 | instruments; he participated in the marching band and became a | ||||||
13 | trumpet player; he did chores for the local school in lieu of | ||||||
14 | tuition and learned to play the viola; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was a survivor of Auschwitz; he was | ||||||
16 | arrested by the Gestapo for stealing information and documents | ||||||
17 | from a German police sergeant; he adapted and played music in | ||||||
18 | the Auschwitz orchestra; after World War II, he was able to | ||||||
19 | obtain college tuition concessions and earned a degree in | ||||||
20 | business-economics from Munich University; and

21 | WHEREAS, In 1950, Rudolph Danel emigrated to Chicago; his |

1 | first jobs were in manufacturing, but later he began his life's | ||||||
2 | career as a social worker; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Shortly after 1950, Rudolph Danel met Maria Ruth | ||||||
4 | Swincow, who became the love of his life; they married and had | ||||||
5 | three children, Isabella, Elizabeth, and Alexander; they | ||||||
6 | enjoyed going to symphonies and operas and spent summers in | ||||||
7 | Union Pier, Michigan; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was a loyal husband and dedicated | ||||||
9 | father; his family was the focus of his life; his grandchildren | ||||||
10 | brought him great joy, and he was amazed to become a | ||||||
11 | great-grandfather; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel is survived by his children, | ||||||
13 | Isabella and Alexander; his three grandchildren, David, | ||||||
14 | Rachael, and Sasza; and his great-grandchildren, Sienna and | ||||||
15 | David Jr.; therefore, be it
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
17 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we mourn the passing of Rudolph T. Danel and extend our sincere | ||||||
19 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
20 | him; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
