1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, November is traditionally designated as National | ||||||
3 | Family Caregivers Month to honor the more than 40 million | ||||||
4 | caregivers across the country who support aging parents, ill | ||||||
5 | spouses, or other loved ones with disabilities who remain at | ||||||
6 | home; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Seven percent of family caregivers were age 75 or | ||||||
8 | older, a share that has gone up steadily in the past two | ||||||
9 | decades; often the recipient is a spouse with dementia or heart | ||||||
10 | disease who needs a high level of care; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, By providing billions of dollars' worth of | ||||||
12 | caregiving services each year, caregivers dramatically reduce | ||||||
13 | the demands on the nation's healthcare system and make an | ||||||
14 | extraordinary contribution to the quality of life of their | ||||||
15 | loved ones; and

16 | WHEREAS, These everyday heroes, living quietly among us in | ||||||
17 | families and communities across the country, are the major | ||||||
18 | source of long-term care in America; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we declare November 2020 as "Family Caregivers Month" in the |
