2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Beth Cassity on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of her retirement as Supervisor and Drug Court | ||||||
5 | Coordinator of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit after 31 years of | ||||||
6 | service; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity has lived in Tamaroa her entire life; | ||||||
8 | she earned her bachelor's degree in Family Services from | ||||||
9 | Eastern Illinois University in 1982; she married Brian Cassity, | ||||||
10 | and they had two children; she earned her M.A. in Education | ||||||
11 | from McKendree University in 2010; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity began her career with the Perry | ||||||
13 | County Probation Department on April 10, 1989; she was promoted | ||||||
14 | to Senior Probation Officer on June 1, 2015; she was promoted | ||||||
15 | to supervisor over Perry, Washington, Randolph, and Monroe | ||||||
16 | Counties on December 8, 2016; and

17 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity partnered with Judge Daniel Emge to | ||||||
18 | bring a drug court to Washington and Perry counties; she spent | ||||||
19 | countless hours preparing data, visiting sites, and developing | ||||||
20 | a drug court program conducive to her rural community; through | ||||||
21 | her efforts, the program started on February 1, 2018; she took | ||||||
22 | on the roles of both Drug Court Coordinator and Drug Court |

1 | Officer, maintaining both of her new positions on top of an | ||||||
2 | already demanding schedule as supervisor; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity has received a number of awards and | ||||||
4 | letters of commendation during her career, including the IPCSA | ||||||
5 | Distinguished Service Award in 2013 and the IPCSA Pauline | ||||||
6 | Gansauer Award in 2018; she was selected to serve on the | ||||||
7 | Women's Justice Institute-led "Redefining the Narrative" Task | ||||||
8 | Force, which organized 100 women Statewide to provide guidance | ||||||
9 | in women's rights with the goals of reducing the female prison | ||||||
10 | population, reducing harm caused to women and their families | ||||||
11 | within the system, and promoting wellness among them; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity continued her selfless acts off duty | ||||||
13 | by being involved in her community; she served on the Tamaroa | ||||||
14 | School Board for over 20 years, coordinated the Tamaroa | ||||||
15 | Homecoming from 1993 to 2001, and spearheaded a class reunion | ||||||
16 | to reunite all the alumni from Tamaroa High School, which | ||||||
17 | closed in 1988; and

18 | WHEREAS, Beth Cassity is known for her professionalism, | ||||||
19 | dedication, friendliness, and overall spirit; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
22 | we congratulate Beth Cassity on the occasion of her retirement, |
