HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Beth Cassity on the
4occasion of her retirement as Supervisor and Drug Court
5Coordinator of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit after 31 years of
6service; and
7 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity has lived in Tamaroa her entire life;
8she earned her bachelor's degree in Family Services from
9Eastern Illinois University in 1982; she married Brian Cassity,
10and they had two children; she earned her M.A. in Education
11from McKendree University in 2010; and
12 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity began her career with the Perry
13County Probation Department on April 10, 1989; she was promoted
14to Senior Probation Officer on June 1, 2015; she was promoted
15to supervisor over Perry, Washington, Randolph, and Monroe
16Counties on December 8, 2016; and
17 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity partnered with Judge Daniel Emge to
18bring a drug court to Washington and Perry counties; she spent
19countless hours preparing data, visiting sites, and developing
20a drug court program conducive to her rural community; through
21her efforts, the program started on February 1, 2018; she took
22on the roles of both Drug Court Coordinator and Drug Court

1Officer, maintaining both of her new positions on top of an
2already demanding schedule as supervisor; and
3 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity has received a number of awards and
4letters of commendation during her career, including the IPCSA
5Distinguished Service Award in 2013 and the IPCSA Pauline
6Gansauer Award in 2018; she was selected to serve on the
7Women's Justice Institute-led "Redefining the Narrative" Task
8Force, which organized 100 women Statewide to provide guidance
9in women's rights with the goals of reducing the female prison
10population, reducing harm caused to women and their families
11within the system, and promoting wellness among them; and
12 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity continued her selfless acts off duty
13by being involved in her community; she served on the Tamaroa
14School Board for over 20 years, coordinated the Tamaroa
15Homecoming from 1993 to 2001, and spearheaded a class reunion
16to reunite all the alumni from Tamaroa High School, which
17closed in 1988; and
18 WHEREAS, Beth Cassity is known for her professionalism,
19dedication, friendliness, and overall spirit; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we congratulate Beth Cassity on the occasion of her retirement,
