Bill Title: Commends essential workers, whose sacrifice makes the health and safety of all remain possible. Mourns the loss of those who have died in the line of duty as a result of COVID-19. Further offers the deepest appreciation and heartfelt support for the medical professionals, first responders, and all essential workers who remain on the job to keep communities and the State strong.

1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of | ||||||
3 | nurses, doctors, first responders, public utility workers, and | ||||||
4 | other workers have continued performing duties that are | ||||||
5 | essential to the health, safety, and well-being of all; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, In performing their duties, these brave men and | ||||||
7 | women are putting the needs of others first, facing a | ||||||
8 | heightened risk exposure to the virus so that life-sustaining | ||||||
9 | services continue without interruption; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Doctors, nurses, and support staff in Illinois | ||||||
11 | hospitals and long-term care facilities are on the frontlines | ||||||
12 | of the battle against COVID-19, working to diagnose, treat, and | ||||||
13 | prevent the spread of the virus while also continuing to | ||||||
14 | provide the lifesaving care needed on a daily basis; and

15 | WHEREAS, Hundreds of retired doctors and nurses have | ||||||
16 | already volunteered to return to work so hospitals can manage | ||||||
17 | the surge of patients in need; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, First responders, police officers, fire fighters, | ||||||
19 | emergency medical technicians, and our National Guard and | ||||||
20 | military members continue in their efforts to protect and serve | ||||||
21 | our communities, often taking on added responsibilities amid |

1 | this emergency; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Many men and women of organized labor have stayed | ||||||
3 | on the job to ensure a number of critical services continue to | ||||||
4 | be delivered, and their local union chapters have continued | ||||||
5 | working to provide resources for union families; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Grocery store and pharmacy clerks, fast food and | ||||||
7 | restaurant workers, public transit workers, gas station | ||||||
8 | attendants, and all those who keep the supply chain of food, | ||||||
9 | medicine, and other essentials running have had to adjust | ||||||
10 | rapidly to an often uncertain working environment while | ||||||
11 | continuing to supply our communities with our most essential | ||||||
12 | needs; and

13 | WHEREAS, By serving others in the face of crisis, these | ||||||
14 | individuals embody the spirit of community, and their efforts | ||||||
15 | stand as a beacon of hope in uncertain times; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, The risks faced by those who continue to provide | ||||||
17 | these essential services have resulted in sickness and in death | ||||||
18 | for many; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | all who remain safe and healthy owe a debt of gratitude to |

3 | RESOLVED, That we mourn the loss of those who have died in | ||||||

6 | heartfelt support for the medical professionals, first | ||||||
7 | responders, and all essential workers who remain on the job to | ||||||
