2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bernard | ||||||
4 | Paul "Bernie" Floriani Jr. of Gurnee, who passed away on July | ||||||
5 | 30, 2020; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was born in Greensburg to | ||||||
7 | Catherine (McCauley) and Dr. Bernard Paul Floriani; he | ||||||
8 | graduated from Dover High School in Delaware in 1987 and | ||||||
9 | received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia | ||||||
10 | in 1991, where he was a member of the golf and basketball | ||||||
11 | teams; he married Christy Oehlstrom on July 3, 1993; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani worked for State Farm and became | ||||||
13 | an agent in Gurnee in 1997; he was past president of the Lake | ||||||
14 | County Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and | ||||||
15 | Financial Advisors; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was a member of the Rotary Club | ||||||
17 | and was chairman of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament for Gurnee | ||||||
18 | Days; he was a former board member of Gurnee Community Church | ||||||
19 | and a founding board member of Bernie's Book Bank; he was | ||||||
20 | involved in coaching numerous youth athletic programs and | ||||||
21 | started the youth basketball team known as the Gurnee | ||||||
22 | Lightning; he was a volunteer coach for the Warren Township |

2 | WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | father, Paul Floriani; his paternal grandparents, Peter and | ||||||
4 | Veronica Floriani; and his maternal grandparents, Bill and Kit | ||||||
5 | McCauley; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani is survived by his wife, Christy; | ||||||
7 | his mother, Catherine Floriani; his children, Kayla and Maxwell | ||||||
8 | Floriani; his brother, Brian Floriani (Suzanne Brown); his | ||||||
9 | sister, Lindsey (Pete) Floriani Arterburn; his nieces and | ||||||
10 | nephews, Zoe and Ziggy Floriani and Grant and Claire Arterburn; | ||||||
11 | his mother-in-law, Sue Oehlstrom; his sister-in-law, Stacy | ||||||
12 | (Forrest) Oehlstrom Behles; his niece and nephew, Mallory and | ||||||
13 | Jack Behles; and numerous other family members; therefore, be | ||||||
14 | it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
16 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we mourn the passing of Bernard Paul "Bernie" Floriani Jr. and | ||||||
18 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
19 | who knew and loved him; and be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Bernie Floriani as an expression of | ||||||
