Bill Title: Amends the Department of Innovation and Technology Act and the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Director of Corrections and the Secretary of Innovation and Technology shall jointly adopt a rule or best practices protocol that permits each committed person in a Department of Corrections institution or facility to access specific and approved job search and career building websites within a specified period before the person's release from the Department of Corrections institution or facility and to access only those job search and career building websites.

1 | AN ACT concerning criminal law.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Department of Innovation and Technology Act | ||||||
5 | is amended by adding Section 1-46 as follows:

6 | (20 ILCS 1370/1-46 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 1-46. Persons committed to Department of Corrections | ||||||
8 | institutions and facilities; access to job and career building | ||||||
9 | websites. The Secretary and the Director of Corrections shall | ||||||
10 | jointly adopt a rule or best practices protocol that permits | ||||||
11 | each committed person in a Department of Corrections | ||||||
12 | institution or facility to access specific and approved job | ||||||
13 | search and career building websites within a specified period | ||||||
14 | before the person's release from the Department of Corrections | ||||||
15 | institution or facility and to access only those job search and | ||||||
16 | career building websites.

18 | adding Section 3-7-8 as follows:
