| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Notary Public Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 2-107 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 312/2-107 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2-107. Notary public remittance agent. |
| 8 | | (a) Every company, corporation, association, organization, |
| 9 | | or person that remits notary public applications to the |
| 10 | | Secretary of State on behalf of applicants for appointment and |
| 11 | | commission as a notary public, for compensation or otherwise, |
| 12 | | shall comply with standards to qualify for licensure as a |
| 13 | | notary public remittance agent. |
| 14 | | (b) The standards to qualify for licensure as a notary |
| 15 | | public remittance agent shall include, but not be limited to, |
| 16 | | the following: |
| 17 | | (1) the applicant has not been the subject of any |
| 18 | | administrative citation, criminal complaint, or civil |
| 19 | | action arising from his or her duties as a notary public |
| 20 | | remittance agent; |
| 21 | | (2) the agent holds a surety bond in the amount of |
| 22 | | $20,000 for the purposes of acting as a remittance agent; |
