Provides that group or individual policies of accident and health insurance or managed care plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2021 (rather than January 1, 2020) shall provide coverage for medically necessary epinephrine injectors. Effective immediately.

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Removes the age limitation for coverage in provisions concerning coverage for epinephrine injectors. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
5changing Section 356z.33 as follows:
6 (215 ILCS 5/356z.33)
7 Sec. 356z.33. Coverage for epinephrine injectors. A group
8or individual policy of accident and health insurance or a
9managed care plan that is amended, delivered, issued, or
10renewed on or after January 1, 2020 (the effective date of
11Public Act 101-281) this amendatory Act of the 101st General
12Assembly shall provide coverage for medically necessary
13epinephrine injectors for persons 18 years of age or under. As
14used in this Section, "epinephrine injector" has the meaning
15given to that term in Section 5 of the Epinephrine Injector
16Act.
