SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois joins Nicasa Behavioral
3Health Services, the National Council on Problem Gambling, and
4the Illinois Council on Problem Gambling in promoting March
52019 as National Problem Gambling Awareness Month; and
6 WHEREAS, Promoting National Problem Gambling Awareness
7Month provides an opportunity to educate the public and
8policymakers about the social and financial effectiveness of
9services available for problem gambling; and
10 WHEREAS, Problem gambling is a public health issue
11affecting millions of Americans of all ages, races, and ethnic
12backgrounds in all communities and has a significant societal
13and economic cost; and
14 WHEREAS, Problem gambling is treatable, and treatment is
15effective in minimizing harm to both individuals and society as
16a whole; and
17 WHEREAS, Residents of Illinois can call the 24-hour hotline
18at 1-800-426-2537; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare March 2019

3 RESOLVED, That we encourage all residents to have a
4dialogue about problem gambling and advocate for responsible
