SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Fred E. Ufert of Wood River, who passed
4away on March 25, 2015; and
5 WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was born to Jo Compagno-Ufert and Fred
6E. Ufert, Sr.; he married Gale Kessinger on December 30, 1992
7in Edwardsville; and
8 WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was involved in coaching local baseball
9for over 25 years with the American Legion and City Leagues; he
10served as past President of American Legion 204; he was also
11past President and school board member of Wood River-Hartford
12Elementary and past President of the East Alton Wood River
13Community High School school board; he served as a Wood River
14Council member from 1999 until he became Mayor of Wood River in
152005; he was also a member of the Alton Aeiries Eagles; and
16 WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was a devoted lifelong St. Louis
17Cardinals baseball fan; he enjoyed playing cards with his
18family and friends, playing Strat O Matic baseball with his
19sons, watching his grandsons participating in athletics,
20bowling, and golfing with his wife, Gale, and special friends,
21Jim and Nancy Schneider; he cherished the time he had traveling
22with his closest friends Michael and Diane Zangori; and

1 WHEREAS, Fred Ufert is survived by his wife, Jo; his 4
2sons, Troy Ufert (Kristi), Colin Overmeyer (Lisa), David Ufert
3(Stephanie), and Anthony Ufert; his 5 grandchildren; and his
4sister, Nancy Jo Fairless (Terry); therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Fred E. Ufert, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Fred Ufert as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
