SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Edward Cook, CAE, who passed away
4on February 9, 2017; and
5 WHEREAS, Robert Cook was born in Chicago to Norman and
6Mabel Cook in 1925; he graduated from Wheaton College and
7married Dorothy Jean Prescott in June 1949; they settled in
8Springfield; and
9 WHEREAS, Robert Cook served as the Executive
10Vice-President of the Illinois Association of Realtors from
111956 to 1984; in 1973, he was the organization's lobbyist and
12was known as the "Speaker of the Illinois Third House"; in
131985, he co-founded Cook-Witter, Inc.; he was a founding member
14of the Illinois Society of Association Executives and actively
15participated in the American Society of Association
16Executives, where he earned his Certified Association
17Executive designation and was awarded the Key Person Award; he
18served on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Committee of 100"; and
19 WHEREAS, Robert Cook was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist
20Church, serving on the board of multiple ministries; after
21retirement, he and Jean moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to
22be close to family; and

1 WHEREAS, Robert Cook was preceded in death by his daughter,
2Judith Cook Harrison, and his grandson, Jason Mosby; and
3 WHEREAS, Robert Cook is survived by his wife, Jean; his
4son, Robin; his daughters, Cindy Nelsen, and Terri Mosby; 11
5grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Robert Edward Cook, CAE, and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Robert Cook as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
