2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jack Anthony Nieukirk Jr. of Chillicothe, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on April 1, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. was born in Peoria to Jack and | ||||||
6 | Mildred Samms Nieukirk Sr. on February 21, 1941; he married | ||||||
7 | Gaye Bass in Peoria on February 25, 1962; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. worked as a fire fighter and | ||||||
9 | retired as Captain in June of 1996 after 31 years of service; | ||||||
10 | prior to that, he worked as a barber; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. served on the pension board for | ||||||
12 | 46 years, including 28 years as president; he also served as a | ||||||
13 | firefighter trustee; he was a member of Labor Local 165 and | ||||||
14 | Fire Fighters Local 50; he loved his children and grandchildren | ||||||
15 | and enjoyed attending their extracurricular activities; he | ||||||
16 | always looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family; he was | ||||||
17 | an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and thought highly of | ||||||
18 | his fellow firefighters; and

19 | WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | parents; his brothers, Steven and Randy; his sister-in-law, | ||||||
21 | Diane Bass; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Fisher; and

1 | WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. is survived by his wife of 57 | ||||||
2 | years, Gaye; his sons, Jack (Jana Wagner-Keyes) Nieukirk III, | ||||||
3 | James (Jody) Nieukirk, and Jeffrey (Angela) Nieukirk; his | ||||||
4 | grandchildren, Jack Anthony (Michelle Mahoney) Nieukirk IV, | ||||||
5 | Maddison Nieukirk, Coleton Nieukirk, Nathan Nieukirk, Taylor | ||||||
6 | Nieukirk, Travis Nieukirk, and Meagan Nieukirk; his | ||||||
7 | great-grandchildren, Jack Anthony V, Bowie Mahoney, and Miles | ||||||
8 | Bailey; his sisters, Sandy Fisher and Connie (Chuck) Bradle; | ||||||
9 | his sisters-in-law, Alice Nieukirk and Scotti Nieukirk; and his | ||||||
10 | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | Jack Anthony Nieukirk Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
14 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
15 | further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Jack Nieukirk Jr. as an expression | ||||||
18 | of our deepest sympathy.
