| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of volunteer firefighter Kody Michael | ||||||
| 4 | Vanfossan of Christopher, who passed away while responding to a | ||||||
| 5 | building fire on May 5, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was born in Carbondale to Brent and | ||||||
| 7 | Mindy Vanfossan on November 15, 1994; a third-generation | ||||||
| 8 | firefighter, he joined the Christopher Fire Department as a | ||||||
| 9 | cadet at the age of 16 and was a nine-year veteran; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was employed by Nascote Industries | ||||||
| 11 | in Nashville; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was known for his kind heart and | ||||||
| 13 | willingness to help others; he had countless friends, both in | ||||||
| 14 | and out of the fire service; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan made the ultimate sacrifice in | ||||||
| 16 | defense of and service to his community while responding to a | ||||||
| 17 | six alarm fire with the Christopher Fire Department; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 19 | grandparents, Libero and Delphine Bartolotti, Mitch Wilkerson, | ||||||
| 20 | Bob Adams, and Tom Vanfossan; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan is survived by his fiance, Casey | ||||||
| 2 | Garret; his son, Erik Michael Vanfossan; his parents; his | ||||||
| 3 | brother, Garrett Vanfossan; his sister, Paige Vanfossan; his | ||||||
| 4 | grandparents, Gary and Kathy Bartolotti, Lisa Wilkerson, and | ||||||
| 5 | Terena Kash; his great-grandmother, Doris Adams; his uncle, | ||||||
| 6 | Michael (Susie) Bartolotti; and his many cousins, great-aunts, | ||||||
| 7 | and great-uncles; therefore, be it

| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 10 | Kody Michael Vanfossan and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 11 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
