2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dennis M. "Denny" Bruckert of Plainview, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on May 2, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was born in Litchfield to Harry and | ||||||
6 | Catherine (Musgrove) Bruckert on June 5, 1944; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Bunker Hill High School in 1962, where he excelled at | ||||||
8 | baseball and basketball; he was drafted to play for the | ||||||
9 | Pittsburgh Pirates, but declined; he was also an Illinois | ||||||
10 | All-State basketball player; he served in the U.S. Navy and was | ||||||
11 | stationed in Vietnam; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert retired after having been partner | ||||||
13 | and owner of the Daley Bruckert new car dealerships in | ||||||
14 | Gillespie, Staunton, and Carlinville; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert married Susan (Briskovich) | ||||||
16 | Bruckert on March 20, 1999; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was a member of VFW Post 4547 in | ||||||
18 | Gillespie; he had a passion for fastpitch softball and his | ||||||
19 | teams won numerous international and national championships; | ||||||
20 | his proudest accomplishment was being the head coach of the | ||||||
21 | United States Men's National Fastpitch Softball Team; his |

1 | second proudest sports moment was being able to teach his | ||||||
2 | grandson Dominic the basics of baseball at a very early age and | ||||||
3 | to coach his Little League teams; he was an avid fan of the St. | ||||||
4 | Louis Cardinals; and

5 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was preceded in death by his | ||||||
6 | mother, Catherine (Musgrove) Bruckert; his birth father, Harry | ||||||
7 | Bruckert; his stepfather, Albert Bruckert; and his first wife, | ||||||
8 | Peaches (Stankoven) Bruckert; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert is survived by his wife, Susan; his | ||||||
10 | children, Shanna Michelle Bruckert, Brandy Lea Bruckert | ||||||
11 | (Daniel Fisher), Shelly Alepra (Matt), and Alan Young (Kelley); | ||||||
12 | his grandchildren, Dominic Alepra, Isabella Alepra, Marcus | ||||||
13 | Young, and Ashley Young; his siblings, Ronald Bruckert (Ginny) | ||||||
14 | and Carol Zakrewski (Gary); his half brother and half sister, | ||||||
15 | Bob Bruckert and Candy Bruckert; and numerous nieces, nephews, | ||||||
16 | great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Dennis M. "Denny" Bruckert and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
20 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
21 | it further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
