2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Arthur John "Artie" Creaney, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 18, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney was born in Chicago to Arthur and | ||||||
6 | Annamary Creaney on June 4, 1951; he attended St. Gilbert | ||||||
7 | Catholic School and graduated from Warren Township High School | ||||||
8 | in 1969; he married Nancy Kolar at Gurnee Community Church on | ||||||
9 | July 27, 1979; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney retired in 2011 as a superintendent | ||||||
11 | with Curran Contracting of Crystal Lake, after over 25 years of | ||||||
12 | service; he was a member of International Union of Operating | ||||||
13 | Engineers Local 150; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney was a talented musician and taught | ||||||
15 | himself to play guitar at a young age; he played and sang in | ||||||
16 | the local bands Sherry and Wine, Promise, Rosewood, and The | ||||||
17 | Roadshow Band with his brother Michael; he also sang in the | ||||||
18 | choir at Gurnee Community Church; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, After retirement, Artie Creaney and Nancy moved to | ||||||
20 | South Carolina, where they enjoyed volunteering for Family | ||||||
21 | Promise of Anderson; Artie joined a local band, Juke Box 45, |

1 | and played in the Praise Band at Trinity United Methodist | ||||||
2 | Church; he also mentored young musicians; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney was a devoted grandfather, friend, | ||||||
4 | and lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney was preceded in death by his | ||||||
6 | parents; his sister, Carol Jean Nerroth; his sister-in-law, | ||||||
7 | Sandy; and his niece, Christine Creaney; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Artie Creaney is survived by his wife of 39 years, | ||||||
9 | Nancy; his children, Theresa Oakes (Brett), Tracy Scholl (Ben), | ||||||
10 | and Greg Powroznik (Pam); his adopted daughter, AmyLynn | ||||||
11 | Creaney; his grandchildren, Aidan and Andrew Scholl and Leo | ||||||
12 | Oakes; his four godchildren; his sisters, Patricia Bueltmann | ||||||
13 | (George) and Kathleen "KC" Dieck (Mick); his brothers, William | ||||||
14 | (Lorraine), Michael (Nancy Rieger), James (Kim), Rory | ||||||
15 | (Glenna), and Robert Creaney; his brother-in-law, George | ||||||
16 | Nerroth; his mother-in-law, Mary Kolar Mathews; his | ||||||
17 | brothers-in-law, Tom (Donna), Dan (Linda), and Joe Kolar; and | ||||||
18 | many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, | ||||||
19 | great-nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Arthur John "Artie" Creaney and extend our sincere condolences |
