I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Pat Miller
Bateman on 50 years working the Indiana elections.
Whereas, In November 2011, Pat Miller Bateman of
Granger, Indiana, celebrated 50 years of working Indiana
elections, a job she considers her patriotic duty to the people
of Indiana;
Whereas, Bateman's dedication to free and fair elections
led her to work nearly every job, including inspector, judge,
clerk, and sheriff;
Whereas, One of the roles Bateman found particularly
fulfilling was serving as inspector; a role that calls for
prepping the polling site, overseeing operations, handling
paperwork, and attending meetings covering new election
laws;
Whereas, With 50 years of working Indiana elections, Pat Miller Bateman has seen just about everything, from identification woes to an entire crew of precinct workers who called in sick, leaving her to work the poll alone; and
