1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Alan Haus and Dina Colville and the community volunteers
1.3of Marty, Minnesota, for receiving the Red Cross Community Hero award
1.4for their dedicated volunteer work in the wake of the Blackhawk helicopter
1.5crash in central Minnesota
1.6WHEREAS, the American Red Cross has a mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering
1.7in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors; and
1.8WHEREAS, on December 5, 2019, a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter crashed near
1.9Marty, necessitating the presence of the Red Cross and the immediate service of community
1.10volunteers; and
1.11WHEREAS, Marty community volunteers Alan Haus and Dina Colville were present at the
1.12site of the crash from the moment the Red Cross arrived, working tirelessly with Red Cross members
1.13and other community volunteers every day until military personnel and law enforcement officers
1.14closed the scene; and
1.15WHEREAS, the community volunteers of Marty, especially Alan and Dina, are being honored
1.16by the Red Cross for the time, emotion, and dedication they demonstrated following the devastating
1.17crash, going above and beyond to care for their military, first responders, and community during
1.18a period of extreme difficulty; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20honors Alan Haus, Dina Colville, and the community volunteers of Marty for receiving the Red
1.21Cross Community Hero award for performing extraordinary acts of courage and kindness to help
1.22those in need; and
1.23BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.24enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.25Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Alan Haus and Dina
1.26Colville.
