A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NANIH WAIYA ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY WARRIORS FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2012-2013 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Nanih Waiya Attendance Center Lady Warriors Fast-Pitch Softball Team is being honored for capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, as newly crowned state champions, the Lady Warriors made history as this is the first state championship for the fast-pitch soft ball team of Nanih Waiya; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors earned this championship after  participating in several playoff games and by making 26 hits, including three homeruns, which ultimately led to the defeat of the West Union Lady Eagles in a two-game sweep during the championship series; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors, led by seniors, Bridget Hunt, Kara Lane Nowell and Megan Robinson, finished their history making season with a notable record of 25-7-1; and

     WHEREAS, the dedicated and resilient 2013 Lady Warriors Fast-Pitch Softball Team includes the following members:  Bridget Hunt, Kara Lane Nowell, Megan Robinson, Ryan Holdiness, Reagan Holdiness, Brantlie Sheets, Kaytlyn Burrage, Krysten Eaves, Logan Fulcher, Mackenzie Johnson, Marlee Parkes, Candace Thorton, Allayna Lovorn, Moeshia McDonald, Livia Bush, Holley Dinsmore and Ashley Higginbotham along with team mangers, Rebecca Stokes, Victoria Luke and Karla Higginbotham; and

     WHEREAS, several of the Lady Warriors have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, which includes the naming of the following to the All State Tournament Team:  Kara Lane Nowell, Ryan Holdiness, Reagan Holdiness and Brantlie Sheets; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors have been superbly coached and  inspired by Coach Jennifer Holdiness and Assistant Coach Ashley McAurther, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game  of fast-pitch softball and have refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Nanih Waiya Attendance Center Lady Warriors Fast-Pitch Softball Team has developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a superb degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring great honor to Nanih Waiya; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when displayed by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Nanih Waiya Attendance Center Lady Warriors Fast-Pitch Softball Team and Coach Holdiness for their outstanding 2012-2013 season, for winning the state championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Nanih Waiya Attendance Center, Coach Jennifer Holdiness and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
