House Concurrent Resolution 17

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOINT RULES OF THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BY CREATING NEW JOINT RULE 18A TO LIMIT THE INTRODUCTION OF GENERAL BILLS REQUIRING A MAJORITY VOTE FOR PASSAGE TO REGULAR LEGISLATIVE SESSIONS OCCURRING IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS.

     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Joint Rules of the Mississippi Senate and House of Representatives are amended by inserting the following new Joint Rule No. 18A to read as follows:

     18A.  The request for drafting and the introduction and consideration of general bills other than those considered revenue bills under Rule 18 shall be limited to regular sessions occurring in even-numbered years, and no general bill other than a general bill considered a revenue bill under Rule 18 may be requested, introduced or considered during a regular session occurring in an odd-numbered year.
