A RESOLUTION COMMENDING RHONDA THOMAS FOR HER MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF LEAKE, NESHOBA, NEWTON AND SCOTT COUNTIES AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON HER RETIREMENT AS VICTIMS ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR FOR THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE OF THE EIGHTH CIRCUIT COURT DISTRICT OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AFTER 23 YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, in 1994, Rhonda Thomas joined the District Attorney's office of the Eighth Circuit Court District of the State of Mississippi as Victims Assistance Coordinator and has faithfully and continuously served the district; and

     WHEREAS, on June 30, 2017, Rhonda will retire after 23 years of continuous service as Victims Assistance Coordinator of the Eighth Circuit Court District of the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Rhonda has provided passionate and effective assistance to countless victims in the Eighth Circuit Court District, all while exhibiting the qualities of compassion, patience and understanding; and

     WHEREAS, during her tenure as Victims Assistance Coordinator, Rhonda has demonstrated in countless ways her willingness to serve the citizens of Leake, Neshoba, Newton and Scott Counties and has earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life throughout the Eighth District and beyond; and

     WHEREAS, during her many years of service, her colleagues deem her to be a vital member of the staff of the District Attorney's office; and

     WHEREAS, Rhonda has constantly evidenced her willingness to perform other duties and responsibilities critical to the operations of the District Attorney's office; and

     WHEREAS, Rhonda has always performed her duties with the highest degree of ability and professionalism while demonstrating a pleasant disposition and genuine concern for others, qualities which have endeared her to her colleagues in the District Attorney's office; and

     WHEREAS, Rhonda has always assisted those who were in need of the services of the District Attorney's office efficiently and in a manner demonstrating the highest degree of dignity and respect; and

     WHEREAS, because she has always provided quality service to her clients while balancing her role as advocate, Rhonda has earned the respect of the many victims, attorneys, judges, law enforcement officers, clerks and citizens of the Eighth District; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor impressive public servants, such as Rhonda Thomas, who have improved the lives of others; and

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Rhonda Thomas for her many years of dedicated public service to the citizens of Leake, Neshoba, Newton and Scott Counties and congratulate her upon her retirement as Victims Assistance Coordinator for the District Attorney's office of the Eighth Circuit Court District after 23 years of exemplary service.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Rhonda Thomas and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
