A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JOSH LINDSEY OF HANCOCK HIGH SCHOOL ON BEING NAMED 2013 MISSISSIPPI TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, Josh Lindsey, a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi and a teacher at Hancock High School in the Hancock County School District, received the prestigious honor of being recognized as the 2013 Mississippi Teacher of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, Lindsey, an English II teacher at Hancock High School in Bay St. Louis, will get a one-time $5,000 salary supplement from the Mississippi Department of Education and will represent the state in the National Teacher of the Year competition; and

     WHEREAS, the 33-year-old has 11 years of experience in the classroom and spent five years at Hancock Middle School before moving to the high school in 2011; and

     WHEREAS, the Hancock High School family is rightly proud to claim Mr. Lindsey as one of their own, and in honor of the varied ways he is touching the lives of students both in the classroom and in their journey toward adulthood, the Mississippi Department of Education and Mississippi Teacher Center named him teacher of the year; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay special recognition to such an outstanding young Mississippian as Josh Lindsey, whose life of using his exceptional talent as an educator to better the lives of the children of our state, who are its future, is the true epitome of selfless service to fellowman which all may look to for inspiration: 

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Josh Lindsey, an English II teacher at Hancock High School, on being named 2013 Teacher of the Year, and we express our sincere best wishes for continued success in all of his future professional and personal endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Josh Lindsey, Hancock High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
