(As Sent to Governor)

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO CHARLIE LEDBETTER OF CLAY COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Charlie Ledbetter of Clay County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction of grand larceny in 1997 in Clay County, Mississippi, and was sentenced to a term of five (5) years suspended with one (1) year to serve on house arrest and three (3) years supervised probation.  Mr. Ledbetter violated house arrest and was sent to the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections on February 18, 1997, to complete his five-year sentence.  He was released on July 19, 2000, to serve on house arrest and was discharged on March 28, 2001.  The Legislature has been reliably informed that he is now conducting himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
