A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS OF HOLLY SPRINGS POLICE CHIEF (RETIRED) ROBERT PEARSON AND EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE LEGISLATURE.

     WHEREAS, Robert W. Pearson, 63, of Holly Springs, Mississippi, died July 17, 2011; and

     WHEREAS, Robert had recently retired as Holly Springs Police Chief on June 30, 2011.  Chief Pearson was a professional law enforcement official who had served in law enforcement since 1972, serving with the Michigan State Police, Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Chattanooga Police Department, prior to serving 5 years as Chief of Police with the Holly Springs Police Department; and

     WHEREAS, he was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and served in the United States Marine Corps; and

     WHEREAS, a memorial service was held on July 22, 2011, at Rust College in the Doxey Auditorium; and

     WHEREAS, Chief Pearson leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Phyllis Pearson; two sons, Jason Pearson and Troy Humes; his mother, Josephine T. Pearson; three brothers, Ivan O. Pearson, Jr. (Yolanda), Clarence E. Pearson, Sr. (Cynthia) and John E. Pearson, Sr. (Monica); sister, Linda P. Smith (Roy); and several grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is with sadness that we note the passing of this dedicated law enforcement professional:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby mourn the loss of Holly Springs Police Chief (retired) Robert W. Pearson and express the sympathy of the Legislature to his surviving family and to the entire Holly Springs Police Department for losing a confident leader and dedicated family man and law enforcement officer.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the surviving family of Chief Robert Pearson, forwarded to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Holly Springs and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
